Supporting Amateur Performing Arts in Tring & Beyond

A registered charity dedicated to providing assistance to amateur performing arts organizations in Tring, and the surrounding area.

About us

Our history, in short (ish)….

Tring Arts Trust was in fact the original name of the charity set up in 1995 (charity number 1949204) to support the arts in Tring.

This then evolved into Court Theatre Ltd (charity number 1147983) when we took over the day-to-day running of the theatre in 2009.

The tenancy agreement we had with the landlord came to an end in 2024, and as we now no longer run the theatre, we have reverted to our original name, Tring Arts Trust.

Over many years of hard work by hundreds of volunteers and careful management, we built up contingency funds with the intention of continuing to invest and improve the infrastructure at the theatre for the future, as we had done over many years.

However, now that the theatre is under new management, we have a fantastic opportunity to use our accumulated funds to redefine the purpose of our charity and help a wide variety of local arts organisations with financial and promotional support, plus advice from a team that has been building since 1978; some of our trustees have been involved since that time.

We will maintain our funds for the future by investing some funds into income-generating investment vehicles, whilst continuing to produce the Tring Pantomime and the Murder Mystery, with all the profits becoming distributable funds for the charity.

FAQs

No, although currently we hire the theatre twice a year to promote the annual Tring Pantomime and Murder Mystery which add funds to our charitable endeavours.

We would like as much detail as you can give. We prefer to support specific financial requests as opposed to a generic request for money or support. If it furthers participation from the community, or widens the access to new audiences or participants then even better.
